Aprons

For awhile I have been teaching my Aunt Jill how to sew, and as i had a free day I wanted to make something with her. I got this idea from one of my previous young women leaders. She has made these cute aprons for her girls, and I figured me and my aunt could make them for her girls Isabelle, and Hailey.

We began by looking through her girls old clothes for a pair of coveralls (to use for the top), We found a pair, and cut off the straps and the pant legs, we then had each of the girls choose which fabrics they wanted on their aprons. Instead of doing any seams, we just zig-zagged the edges of each piece of fabric, and the apron top.

******WARNING NO REAL MEASUREMENTS WERE USED IN THE MAKING OF THESE APRONS********

After everything was zig-zagged we used a basing stitch (the longest one) along the edge of the strips, and bunched it all up so it was gathered, we then sewed everything together, and had the gathered seams showing for a craftier look, we basically bunched everything so that it it together, and believe me it did not look too good on the back!, last thing we did is I brought each of the girls names embroidered on a piece of white fabric, we had them put them where they wanted and then just zig-zagged around their names..... most amazing part was i had this much thread left when we finished (no lie).

Best thing was these aprons cost no money, we just used old coveralls, strips of fabric from previous things, and a spool of pink thread that I found!
